The VRtual Expressionism series is inspired by the pioneering abstract expressionists and their philosophies. My aim is to capture their creative intentions using modern technology - namely using gestural painting, colors, and improvisation/intuition with virtual reality tools. I used Gravity Sketch with an Oculus Quest to create the shapes before using the camera tool to capture various views within the fabricated work. I then edit the images in Procreate where I manipulate the colors as well as add brushstroke-style markings.
For VRtual Expressionism VII, the original VR-sculpted 3D model was uploaded as an AR effect on Instagram for users to view and explore in the digital real space.
